We’ve come to another fork in the road collectively, my friends. Another invitation to stretch ourselves, especially when working with our own emotional bodies.Â
What is emotional intelligence?
Mental Health America defines it as the ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you. They believe there are five key elements to EI: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.
In today’s social environment, I would also say it’s the ability to navigate an abundance of fearful thoughts at the same time.Â
We’ve been intentionally thrust into a pressure cooker of fear for quite some time now (years). I say intentionally because this is the main tool used by those interested in power over dynamics. This is the patriarchy in a nutshell, so nothing new here. Except that as the patriarchy dissolves, the fear factor has been ramped up to exponentially higher and higher quantities.Â
And this is good news.Â
Say what??Â
It means that the usual fear tactics no longer work on most people. We’ve caught on to the game and for a growing number of us, we aren’t drinking the kool-aid or even paying attention anymore. Hence the ramping up to try to keep us hooked and subdued. And, ultimately, it won’t work. The jig is up.
The last vestiges of the patriarchy. ^^^
The trick now is to manage our emotional bodies through the final crumblings.Â
The astrology this month, and through the end of this year, really, speaks to more and more drama, exposures and revelations. It will be very helpful to everyone’s nervous systems to micro dose the news as much as possible.
And, within our own personal lives, we’re tasked with stretching ourselves to new capacities of groundedness and responsibility, because we each hold a thread of the collective conscious. We’re the ones who will save the world.
Staying away from media is not enough. We must systematically heal any triggers that lead us away from our own power and back to fear.Â
This is how we strengthen our emotional intelligence. Some of us have been doing this work for a while now.
Others of us are just getting started. And that’s ok. Just begin now.
When we’re not afraid, we have access to emotional resources that help us create solutions.Â
We can see a new horizon.
Us, standing in our own emotional sovereignty, is what creates the world we want to live in.Â
We build it one person at a time, one day at a time, with a new hopeful vision held so intently it must be birthed.
On this new Moon in Cancer, take responsibility for your own emotional well-being.Â
Ignore the messages floating around about hopelessness.
Create your OWN reasons to feel hopeful. Â
Acknowledge what still needs to be mothered by you within yourself. Give gratitude for the awareness. Analyze what can be done to move through any sticky spots. And then take action to become emotionally whole.
No one is coming to save you.Â
No one else can do this for you.Â
It can feel scary, but also, incredibly empowering.Â
You don’t have to wait for anything outside of you to be different in order to feel good now.
Love you, fam.
xo,
Kimberly
For so long, I've started the morning with the same routine. It includes coffee and a sunrise, yay, but it also includes email newsletters, headlines from major news outlets. The majority of them are fear-inducing, causing me to pause and spend moments or minutes wondering about impact and whether or not I should worry or care at all. This time spent in this space accumulates into a considerable chunk of energy expended, and after reading this, I've decided to take it back. I've decided to take back the time I spend on the world's bullshit as translated by the media and designed to reel me in. It's time to unsubscribe to them and resubscribe to me. Thank you for your words and wisdom. You've changed me.
